My new Canon 24-70mm 2.8 lens arrived today and I admit I got quite a thrill opening the box.
I’d had a go on the Sigma 17-70mm, which I bought because a friend took stunning photos at my wedding with it.
The Sigma was disappointing and seemed to produce very soft photos on my Canon 7d. Not sure if it was a dud lens, but it’s going back to the shop regardless.
I decided the investment in the Canon was worth it (it cost £900 cf w/ >£300 for the Sigma) and I was right.
It focuses really quick and produces amazing photos – I’m amazed at the bokeh (blur around the subject) it creates, really nice.
I even like the weight of it, it feels really solid.
I’ll post up the photos I get with it next week.
